PPI hike in fuel SCT

After TurkStat announced the inflation data for the first six months of the year, SCT on fuel was increased. The lump-sum SCT amounts on gasoline, diesel and autogas (LPG) were increased by the six-month producer inflation. Gasoline and diesel fuel were increased by approximately 2 TL each. SCT on cigarettes and alcoholic products also increased by 19.49 percent.

Fuel prices, which have increased rapidly in recent years due to exchange rate and tax hikes, received another hike today.

After TurkStat announced the inflation data for the first six months of the year, SCT hike came to fuel.

The lump-sum SCT amounts on gasoline, diesel and autogas (LPG) were increased by the six-month producer inflation. There was a tax hike of approximately 2 TL each in gasoline and diesel.

On July 16, 2023, the Presidential Decree increased the lump-sum special consumption tax (SCT) on fuel by 5 TRY each and regulated that these amounts would be increased every 6 months at the rate of the increase in the producer price index (PPI).

In line with the decision, the lump sum special consumption tax amounts on gasoline, diesel and autogas (LPG) were increased by the six-month producer inflation announced by TurkStat today.

19.49 percent increase
TÜİK calculated the six-month producer inflation as 19.49 percent.

Accordingly, the lump-sum SCT amounts of 8.86 TL for diesel and 9.45 TL for gasoline per liter were increased by 19.49 percent. The lump sum SCT per liter increased to 11.29 TL in gasoline, 10.59 TL in diesel and 8.67 TL in autogas.

VAT of 20 percent is added to these increases.

Thus, 2 lira 7 kurus per liter of diesel, 2 lira 21 kurus per liter of gasoline and 95 kurus per liter of autogas were increased.

With the SCT hike, the price per liter of gasoline increased to 44.70 TL in Istanbul, 45.70 TL in Ankara and 46.06 TL in Izmir.

The price per liter of diesel rose to approximately 44.60 TL in Istanbul, 45.63 TL in Ankara and 46.00 TL in Izmir.

Prices may vary between provinces, districts and dealers.
