Global markets await Powell

Equity markets remain buoyant ahead of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s mid-year testimony to the US Senate.
The S&P 500 index rose 0.1% to hit its 35th record close this year despite the correction from Wilson. Futures of the index are also up on the new trading day.
Japan led the rises in Asia. Nikkei 225 broke a record while the index’s rise this year exceeded 23%. CSI 300 and Hang Seng diverged negatively.
The Bloomberg Dollar Index is at 1,260 points while the dollar is flat against developed country currencies. There is no sharp movement in US bonds before Powell. The 10-year yield remained unchanged at 4.282 percent in the morning hours compared to the closing.
