New earthquake financing for Turkey

Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Treasury and Finance, announced that 250 million euros of financing has been provided by the Council of Europe Development Bank for the reconstruction of the regions affected by the February 6 earthquakes. According to the information given by Şimşek, with the latest financing, the foreign funding for the earthquake has increased to 3.8 billion dollars.

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that 250 million euros of funding has been obtained from the Council of Europe Development Bank for the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, in addition to the financing previously received from the bank.

Şimşek informed AA that the agreement for the said loan was signed by the Ministry on Tuesday and reminded that 250 million euros of budget financing was provided from the bank for the same purpose last year.

Şimşek made the following assessment: “This financing will be used to support the infrastructure works of the Bank of Provinces in the earthquake zone, the construction of rural housing in the earthquake zone of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the health infrastructure works of the Ministry of Health.
