According to Turkstat data, seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was realized as 8.4 percent in May.

According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey; The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 27 thousand people in May 2024 compared to the previous month and became 3 million 11 thousand people. Unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 point to 8.4 percent. Unemployment rate was estimated as 7.0 percent for men and 11.0 percent for women.

Seasonally adjusted employment rate was 50.0 percent

In May 2024, the number of employed people increased by 273 thousand people compared to the previous month and became 32 million 920 thousand people, while the employment rate increased by 0.4 points to 50.0 percent. This rate was 67.3 percent for men and 33.0 percent for women.

Seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate was realized as 54.5 percent

In May 2024, labor force increased by 245 thousand people compared to the previous month and became 35 million 931 thousand people, while labor force participation rate increased by 0.3 points to 54.5 percent. Labor force participation rate was 72.4 percent for men and 37.1 percent for women.

Seasonally adjusted youth unemployment rate was 15.0 percent

Youth unemployment rate, which covers the 15-24 age group, increased by 0.3 points compared to the previous month and became 15.0 percent. Unemployment rate in this age group was estimated as 12.8 percent for males and 19.3 percent for females.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours was 43.9 hours

The seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours of those who were employed in the reference period decreased by 0.3 hours in May 2024 compared to the previous month and realized as 43.9 hours.

Seasonally adjusted idle labor force ratio was 25.2 percent

In May 2024, the idle labor force ratio, which is composed of time-dependent underemployment, potential labor force and unemployed, decreased by 2.0 points compared to the previous month and became 25.2 percent. The combined ratio of time-dependent underemployment and unemployed was 17.4 percent, while the combined ratio of unemployed and potential labor force was estimated as 17.1 percent.
