Second consecutive monthly surplus in current account balance
Current account balance posted a surplus in July after June. According to Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) data, the current account surplus was 566 million dollars. The data showed that the annualized current account deficit fell below 20 billion dollars as of July.
Turkey recorded the highest surplus in the current account balance this year.
According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), the current account balance gave a surplus of 566 million dollars in July.
Economists participating in the Bloomberg survey expected the surplus to be around 600 million dollars.
According to the data of the CBRT, the current account excluding gold and energy, which is considered as the core balance, gave a surplus of 4.9 billion dollars.
Data showed that the annualized current account deficit narrowed to 19.1 billion dollars in July. In June, the annualized current account deficit was 25 billion USD.
Balance of payments-defined foreign trade deficit was realized as 5.1 billion USD in July. According to CBRT’s data set, net inflows from the balance of services amounted to 6.9 billion dollars, while net revenues from the travel item were recorded as 5.6 billion dollars.
