FT: Erdogan to meet with big business executives
The Financial Times reported that President Erdoğan will meet with executives from major US companies on September 23rd. The list of participants includes senior executives from Wall Street banks JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to meet with top US business leaders in New York this month in a bid to attract investors to the country’s markets, the Financial Times reported.
Erdogan and his delegation will try to woo investors and business executives at at least four events in the last week of September, coinciding with the UN General Assembly, the Financial Times reported, citing the Turkey-US Business Council (TAIK) and others with knowledge of the plans.
The list of participants includes senior executives from Wall Street banks JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Goldman will host a Turkish investment conference at its lower Manhattan headquarters the following day, featuring speeches by Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan. Istanbul-listed companies are also expected to hold investor meetings as side events to the event.
Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Industry Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır will also host talks organized by TAIK and Citigroup.
JPMorgan, Goldman and Citi declined to comment, the FT reported.
