Record number of wage earners
The number of wage earners increased by 3.4 percent in July compared to the same month of the previous year. Thus, the number of wage earners broke a record.
Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) published wage-earner statistics for July.
Accordingly, the number of wage earners in industry, construction and trade-services sectors increased by 3.4 percent year-on-year to 15 million 889 thousand 385 people in July. This number was recorded as 15 million 369 thousand 599 people in July last year.
Looking at the sub-details of wage earners, while the number of wage earners remained unchanged in the industrial sector (5 million 100 thousand 115 people), it increased by 8.6 percent in the construction sector and by 4.3 percent in the trade-services sector.
