Villeroy: ECB should continue rate cuts
Francois Villeroy de Galhau, Member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) and Governor of the Bank of France, said that the ECB should continue to cut interest rates.
Francois Villeroy de Galhau, a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, said the European Central Bank should continue to cut interest rates because inflation will reach the 2 percent target permanently next year.
Villeroy, who is also Governor of the Bank of France, said that while there will be some volatility in inflation data in the coming months, victory over inflation is “in sight”.
“We have cut rates twice and we should continue to do so,” Villeroy told BFM TV, urging authorities to keep gradually easing monetary policy, without giving any guidance on the timing of future moves.
