Limited increase in banking profits
According to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) data, the net profit of the banking sector increased by 9.2 percent in the January-August period compared to the same period of the previous year.
The total net profit of the banking sector, which was 350.6 billion TRY in the January-August period of 2023, increased to 382.8 billion TRY in the first eight months of this year.
According to data released by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the share of non-performing loans in total cash loans was 1.69 percent in August. This ratio was 1.61 percent in the eighth month of last year.
Core capital adequacy ratio was recorded as 13 percent in August this year. In the same period of last year, this ratio was 15 percent. The capital adequacy standard ratio declined to 17 percent in August.
Total assets of the sector were recorded as 29.7 trillion TL in August. In the same period of the previous year, total assets amounted to 20.3 trillion TL.
Total loans, which were 10.4 trillion TL in August last year, amounted to 14.6 trillion TL in the same period of this year.
